The rest of the trailer is a mix of total nostalgia fest and mystery, full of Easter eggs like black cats, physics-defying dojo fights, and of course, Neo stopping bullets with his “chosen one” powers. The film also stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who appears to be playing a young Morpheus handing Neo the red pill that will reveal the truth of his dystopian nightmare but also set him free. But Neo soon finds himself following a new white rabbit, this time played by Jessica Henwick, through the looking glass. While the plot of this installment has yet to be revealed, it appears that Neo is back in the Matrix along with Trinity, who (for some yet-unknown reason) doesn’t recognize him. The trailer opens with Keanu Reeves’s Neo asking if he’s crazy, and his therapist, played by Neil Patrick Harris, assures him that’s not a word they use in their sessions. Now the long-anticipated trailer for the new Matrix has finally landed, and it’s as trippy and intriguing as fans of the franchise could have hoped for. Returning for The Matrix Resurrections, this time she takes the mantle of sole writer and director (she directed the previous films alongside her sister Lilly). But as it turns out, Lana Wachowski wasn’t done with Neo and the gang just yet. It’s been 18 years since The Matrix Revolutions seemingly brought the franchise to a close.
